Creating in 2017

When a new year starts, if you’re like me, it’s a fun time to make things new.  In other words “Create.”  I love sprucing up my home decor, starting a new hand-written calendar (yes… a paper calendar), and making a Spring “to do list.”  Now I have a new way for you to create: Begin art journaling.  Get a blank journal, (any size) or old book and mark it up with water color pencils, water colors, acrylic paint…  any type art supplies.  Write words, draw and doodle and just have fun.  It’s a great way to connect to your Divinity and also put some feelings on paper.  Believe me, you will be amazed how much fun it is.  It’s fun because no one need see it but you… and you can create anything you like.  Do what I call a “prayer release piece.” – Write a prayer in your journal and then color, draw, paint, and write over it.  Once you’ve written your prayer, our Creator has it… so you can let it go and just have fun using art supplies to create something that speaks to you.  Be like a child… don’t judge; just have fun!  Your journal can display anything you like, i.e., pictures, words, drawings – ANYTHING! If you’re like me, you’ve not had any professional art training… but you love colors and enjoy using them by using pens, crayons, paints, etc.  I love diving into whatever art supplies call to me and just making marks, drawing circles and shapes.  What I love best about using an art journal is that it does not have to make sense to anyone… and no one need see it!  Everyone has a creative side… so create some fun for yourself.  Remember there is meaning in the mess!!  I agree with what Georgia O’Keeffe said:  “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way – things I had no words for.” Explore – Experiment – Enjoy
